Progression of changes with DF/DA Doctine
by Bubbamar ini am curious about the history of disfellowshipping and disassociation doctrines.
i know that they changed the da rules when ray and co were leaving so that no one could talk to people who disassociated themselves -- to close the loophole.
i am wondering if that's also when the df rules also became more harshly and strictly enforced.

I could be wrong (I frequently am), but I don't think the DA thing was started with Ray. My understanding is that they declared associating with a DF'd person was grounds for DFing, and then retroactively applied that to him, after he was seen eating lunch with his boss, who was DF'd.
I have heard that the usage of DA really started with one Michael Jackson, when he finally had enough of the cheese and cracker men trying to tell him what he could and couldn't do as the King of Pop. He probably did not want to be DF'd, and he probably had a little more clout than the regular JW pulled into the library. So the DA thing was cooked up as a way of him exiting, kinda like a no-fault divorce.
Over time, though the use of DA has grown. As more and more JWs have begun questioning the org, many of them have used a DA letter as a way to exit the organization in a more dignified manner, "you can't fire me, I quit!" And it is being used now for politically sensitive areas like voting and blood transfusions. They simply say the person has voluntarily, by their actions, chosen to disassociate themselves.

I do know of a case where someone was put on probation though... whereas the same incident today would most likely resulted in their being DF'd.

My wife has it, same symptoms you describe kls. Several years ago she had treatment for it, where they snake a very small wire up through a vein or an artery to the heart, then cauterize the nerve that causes the irregular heart beat. They ended up doing 13 of these pinhead-sized burns. The procedure was successful for the most part.

WT 2003 CDROM - User agreement!
by qwerty injust borrowed a wtcd from a friend................ i carn't believe a "non" profit organisation can do this or rather put restrictions on the the coping of the wt cdrom.
isn't there literature distributed free?
then why is make the copying of the wt library for the benefit of declaring the "truth" wrong!

The software and the documents stored on the disk are all copyrighted by them. They have every right to restrict redistribution of the CD contents.
Why are you all so shocked that they would have these kind of 'restrictions' in the user agreement? Have you read the user agreements on other commercial software? There is nothing out of the ordinary here.

my son is a real issac asimov fan.
he said asimov would have hated the movie, but that he really enjoyed it.. come to think of it, i'd be hard pressed to name a will smith movie i don't like.

Once again more proof of how low Hollywood will stoop to make a buck. Make a crappy "sci-fi" summer movie, with a lead actor who should have never gotten past his third-rate TV sitcom, then steal the name from one the classics, one of the greatest science fiction series ever written. Never mind that the whole point of Asimov's robot stories was to portray robots as something other than technology gone wrong, as evil creatures that inevitably turn on their creators and destroy them.
